The following is a
comprehensive list of Frequently Asked Questions
about the Angle of Repose. It has answers to most of
the common questions people ask about the property.
Are pets allowed?
No, unless its a pet who has always traveled with
the family. Although, it is not allowed inside the
house.
Is Smoking allowed in the home or on the deck?
Absolutely NO SMOKING is allowed in house or on the
deck.
Are children allowed?
Yes, however, they must be well-disciplined.
Is there an outside play area for children?
Yes, a circular lawn on adjacent property belonging
to owner.
Is the home situated within walking distance of
the beach?
Yes, both estuary and surfing beach.
Is water free of stingers and box jelly fish?
Yes, it is free of box jelly fish, but the
Arakunji stinger can appear in the very hot season.
December, when it is advisable not to swim - notices
will be posted on beaches disallowing swimming at
this time.
Is it safe to drink the water?
Yes. There is no reticulated water, but natural
tank rain water which is filtered through taps in
the kitchen. Many visitors still take precaution
though, and buy their own bottled water, which is
not really necessary.
Are the shops, amenities and restaurants within
walking distance of the house?
The main shopping area and restaurants are within an
11K drive. There is one restaurant in 1770 called
the Tree which is within walking distance and a
small amenities store at a camping site.
Is there a market or grocery store or does one
have to bring own groceries?
There are two well-stocked grocery stores in the
town of Agnes Water 11K away.
What sort of shops are available?
In the town of Agnes Water (11K drive away or 8K
walk along the beach) there are numerous shops:
▪ Two Women's Clothing Boutiques
▪ A Surf Shop complete with boards, surf clothing,
casual clothing, beachwear
for men and women (all in latest styles and
some designer wear) - owned by a person
known affectionately as Grom, who hosts the
Long Board Surfing Championships of 1770
every March) Grom also provides surf boards
and surf lessons at a reasonable cost.
▪ A shoe shop, with casual and smart shoes
▪ A Video Store - with up to date releases.
▪ A Fishing Tackle Store
▪ An Electrical Appliance Store
▪ An Electronics Store
▪ A Household/Homeware Store with many kitchen utensils
and items
▪ A Hardware Store with a delivery service
▪ A Pump Store complete with lawn mowers etc.
▪ Two Hot Bread Bakeries
▪ A Fresh Fish Store
▪ A Butcher who also provides locally caught Fresh Fish
and farm eggs
▪ A Desktop Agency with photocopying facilities
Is there a News Agency?
Yes, with a supply of up-to-date daily
newspapers.
Is there a Bank?
Yes, within the News Agency?
Are there ATM machines?
Yes, these are situated in both grocery stores.
Are there Real Estate Agents?
Yes, about five.
Are there Massage Therapists?
Yes, many, one who is situated in the shopping
complex which also provide skin care.
Is there a local Market?
Yes, every Sunday during the peak periods and
every other Sunday in off-peak periods.
Everything from fresh fruit and vegetables, plants,
honey to craft ware and locally made clothing.
Is there a Gas Station?
Yes, as well as a Repair Shop.
Is there a local bus service?
Yes, from the Tree in 1770 to Agnes and back.
There is also a feeder bus to points where the
Greyhound Bus Service stops en route North or South.
Is there a Gymnasium or Health Facility?
Yes, there is a privately owned Gym complete
with exercise machines, in the Cove Area - 10
minutes from Agnes Water. There is also a facility
providing mat exercises, Karate and Judo - also 10
minutes out of town.
Is there a theatre?
Not specifically - movies are shown in the
community centre on a regular basis.
Are there Internet Access Facilities?
Yes - (i) In the Community Centre in Agnes Water
(ii) In the Thai Restaurant.
Is there reception for Mobile Phones.
Yes, recently a tower has been installed by
Telecom which provides this service.
Are there restaurants?
Yes:
▪ The Tree in 177O - provides very good pizzas and fish
dishes, plus hamburgers etc.
This is also known as the Pub where
local gather regularly.
▪ The Deck, providing many delectable dishes,
especially exotic fish dishes. During the
day there is a take out section with
fresh fish and chips. This is situated half way
between 1770 and Agnes Water at the
Captain Cook Caravan Park.
▪ A Mediterranean style restaurant in Agnes Water
